About myKesho

Kesho means tomorrow in Kiswahili. myKesho helps Kenyan children get ready for it, one payday at a time.

myKesho is a free financial literacy app for Kenyan families. From birth to 5, parents save for their child and family can add with a gift link. From 6 to 17, children get their own wallet to save, spend and share, earn from chores, and learn with 93 money lessons in 6 levels. Parents approve every spend, and myKesho holds no money: families keep their own cash, and the app keeps the record.

Why we built it

Money habits start early, long before a first job or a first M‑Pesa line. Most children learn about money from a handful of coins and a lot of “we can’t afford that”. myKesho turns pocket money into practice: real choices, every week, with a parent beside them.

Made in Kenya

The lessons use Kenyan prices and situations: the kiosk, the tuck shop, boarding school, a harambee, a chama with friends, a fake M‑Pesa message. Amounts are in Kenyan shillings, and the app works on a family phone over a slow connection.
