Download the Android app

Version 1.1.0 · 575 KB · Android 7 and newer · Updated 29 October 2026

On iPhone? Add myKesho to your home screen instead.

Install it in four steps

  1. 1

Tap Download the Android app above. Your browser saves the file, and may ask if you want to keep it: tap Download anyway or Keep.

  2. 2

Open your Downloads, or tap the finished download at the top of your screen, then tap myKesho.apk.

  3. 3

If Android says this source isn’t allowed, tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.

  4. 4

Tap Install, then Open. Choose I’m a parent or guardian or I’m a kid, and sign in as usual.

Android only asks about the source the first time. Later updates from the same browser install straight away.

What’s in the app

  • For parents: every child’s jars at a glance, yes or not yet on asks, tasks and payday, gift links for Shosh and the aunties, birthday reminders, and a savings pot for little ones under 6.
  • For kids: My wallet, Save and Share, goals, tasks that pay, 93 Money Missions set in Kenya, Kesho Stars, and a party on their birthday.
  • Always up to date: the app opens mykesho.com full screen, so new lessons and features arrive without a download.
  • Light on data: a small download, quick to open, and made for busy family phones.

Download it safely

Only install myKesho from mykesho.com/app. A file shared in a WhatsApp group, a Telegram channel or a download site isn’t ours, whatever it’s called, and you can’t tell what was added to it. The real app opens on mykesho.com and never asks for an M‑Pesa PIN, a card number or a bank login.

On iPhone, or prefer not to install?

The website is the full app, not a cut-down version. On iPhone, open mykesho.com in Safari, tap the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. On Android you can also open mykesho.com in Chrome and tap Install app or Add to Home screen from the menu.

Questions

Is the myKesho app free?

Yes. The app, the download and everything in it are free. myKesho never asks for M‑Pesa, card or bank details.

Why does my phone warn me before installing it?

Android warns you about any app that doesn’t come from the Play Store. The file comes straight from mykesho.com, so it’s safe as long as you downloaded it here. Allow it once for the browser you used, and Android won’t ask again.

Is it on the Google Play Store?

Not yet. Apps for children go through a longer review on Google Play, and we’re preparing for it. Until then, download it from this page. Your family’s account works the same either way.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not as a download. On iPhone, open mykesho.com in Safari or Chrome, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. It opens like an app and has everything the Android app has.

Do we need new accounts for the app?

No. Parents sign in with the same email and password, and kids with the same username and PIN. Everything is the same as on the website.

How do I update it?

Most updates happen by themselves, because the app opens mykesho.com. When there’s a new version of the app itself, download it again from this page and install it over the old one. Nothing is lost: your family’s record lives on our side, not on the phone.

Why are there two icons?

One install puts two icons on your phone: myKesho for parents and myKesho Kids for children. Each opens straight to its own sign-in.

Can kids share a phone?

Yes. Each child signs in once with their own username and PIN. After that, myKesho Kids shows each child’s face: tap Switch at the top, tap your face, enter your PIN. Each child sees only their own money.

How much data does it use?

The download is about 575 KB. After that, myKesho is built to be light: most screens load in a few kilobytes, so it works on a slow connection and a small bundle.
