Saving for a phone

A big goal, many months, and a moving price

Level 5: Planning ahead · from age 12 · 3 minutes · 3 Kesho Stars

The story

Kevin, 13, wants a KES 12,000 phone. He decides to put KES 800 a month into his Save jar from pocket money and tasks.

The big idea

Prices can move while you save. If the phone goes up 5%, it costs 12,000 + 600 = 12,600. New models can also make older ones cheaper. Check the price as you go.

Ask at home

Ask your child to pick one big goal and work out how many months it would take at their saving rate.

The full lesson, with its questions and Kesho Stars, is in the myKesho kids app.
