How savings grow

Interest, SACCOs and money that earns money

Level 5: Planning ahead · from age 11 · 4 minutes · 5 Kesho Stars

The story

Faith saves KES 10,000 in a SACCO. In this example, it pays 8% a year on savings.

The big idea

A SACCO is a savings and credit co-operative. Its members own it. They save together, lend to each other and share the profits.

Ask at home

Ask your child to guess whether you save anywhere that pays interest, then tell them how it works.

The full lesson, with its questions and Kesho Stars, is in the myKesho kids app.
