Selling mandazi at the fair
Cost, price and profit in a tiny business
The story
Wanjiku and her mum make 20 mandazi for the school fair. The flour, sugar and oil cost KES 200.
The big idea
Profit is what’s left after you pay your costs. Profit = money from sales − costs.
Ask at home
Ask your child what they could sell at a school fair, what it would cost to make and what they’d charge.
