How your child signs in, and changing their username

Kids open mykesho.com/#kids and sign in with a username and a 4-digit PIN. No email needed.

Steps

  1. 1

Open Kids and tap your child’s card. Scroll to Kids app to see the address and their Username.

  2. 2

On your child’s phone, tablet or computer, open mykesho.com/#kids. Tap the copy button next to the address if you want to send it.

  3. 3

Your child types their username on Hi! Who’s signing in?, taps Continue, then types the PIN you chose together.

  4. 4

The first time, they pick an avatar. On Home, Amani signs in to the kids app (with your child’s name) gets a tick under Finish setting up.

  5. 5

To change their name or username, tap Change name or username in the Kids app box, edit it and tap Save.

The kids app remembers who signed in last on that device, so next time it goes straight to the PIN. To sign in as a brother or sister, tap the back arrow and type a different username.

Usernames

  • 3 to 20 letters and numbers, starting with a letter. Dots between words are fine, like ann.otieno.
  • Every username is unique across myKesho. The form says Free when it’s yours to use.
  • If you change it, tell your child: they use the new one next time they sign in. Their money and stars don’t change.

On a shared phone: when a child signs in, the parent app signs you out. That’s on purpose. Sign back in with your password when you need it.

Questions

My child forgot their username.

It’s on their page under Kids app. Tap the copy button and paste it, or read it out.

Can my child change their own PIN?

Yes, in the kids app under Me, with their old PIN. You get a note when they do. If you didn’t expect it, reset the PIN yourself.

Can two kids use the same phone?

Yes. Each signs in once with their own username and PIN. After that the kids app shows each child’s face: they tap Switch at the top, tap their face and enter their PIN. Each sees only their own money.
