How Money Missions work

Short money lessons set in Kenya. Kids earn Kesho Stars, and you get a question to ask at home.

Steps

  1. 1

Your child opens Learn in the kids app and plays the next Money Mission. Lessons go in order, a few minutes each.

  2. 2

To see their progress, open Kids and tap their card. Learning shows how many lessons they’ve done, their stars and what’s next.

  3. 3

On Home, What they learned lists lessons from the last week, each with Ask at home. Ask it at supper.

  4. 4

To pay for lessons, open Account and go to Rules. Next to Pay for Money Missions, pick an amount per mission.

Lessons open level by level, from Money basics at 6 up to Big money ideas at 13 and older. Kids work through them in order, so an older lesson counts once the ones before it are done. Every lesson ends with a question to talk about at home.

Kesho Stars

  • Finish a Money Mission: 3 to 5 stars.
  • Reach a savings goal: 5. Give from Share: 2. A task approved: 1. Move money into Save: 1, once a day.
  • Steps on their savings journey: 2 to 5. Their birthday: 10.
  • Stars build levels: Starter, Saver at 10, Planner at 25, Money Pro at 50 and Kesho Champion at 100.

Paying for lessons

Choose Off, KES 10, KES 20 or KES 50 per mission. It’s paid on payday with the allowance. Only 3 lessons a day count for money, so rushing through doesn’t pay; stars still count for every lesson.

The Lessons this week tile on Home counts lessons across all your kids. The Sunday note email also shows what each child learned.

Questions

Can my 5-year-old do lessons?

Lessons open at 6, with their own app.

My child finished every lesson.

Their page says every lesson for their age is done. New ones open as they get older.

Are stars worth money?

No. Stars are points for learning and good habits. Only the mission reward you set in Rules pays money.
