Set up your family
Sign up with your email, confirm the code we send you, save your recovery code and add your first child.
Steps

Open mykesho.com/#parent on your phone or computer and tap Set up your family. On the main website you can also tap Get started.

Type your Email and Create a password. It needs at least 8 characters, and a short phrase is easy to remember and hard to guess.

Tick I’m over 18 and a parent or guardian and I agree to the terms and the privacy notice, finish the quick check that you’re a person, then tap Continue.

Open the email from myKesho, type the 6-digit Code and tap Continue. The code works for 10 minutes.

Under About you, fill in Your first name, Family name and What your kids call you (Mum, Dad, Shosh and so on), then tap Create our family.

Write down your recovery code, tick I’ve saved my recovery code and tap Continue.

On Add your first child, fill in their details, tick the consent box and tap Add child. Then tap Go to my family.
It takes about three minutes. myKesho is free and never asks for M‑Pesa, card or bank details: you keep the cash, and the app keeps the record of each child’s jars.
Common hiccups
- No code in your inbox? Look in spam. After 45 seconds you can tap Send a new code, or Use a different email if you made a typo.
- “That one’s too easy to guess” means the password is on a list of common ones, like 12345678 or your email. Try a few words together.
- Already have a family with that email? You’ll see a Sign in with button. Use it instead of signing up again.
- An Access code box? Some sign-ups need a code from the myKesho team. Type the one they gave you.
The Family name is your kids’ last name to start with. You can change it for each child later.
Setting up with your partner? Only one of you signs up. Then invite the other from Account, so you share one family. See Add a second parent or guardian.
Questions
Do I need M‑Pesa or a bank account?
No. In this first version myKesho doesn’t hold or move real money. You keep the cash at home or wherever you keep it, and record what goes in and out.
Can I sign up on a computer and use my phone later?
Yes. Sign in on any phone, tablet or computer with your email and password.
What if I close the page halfway?
Start again from Set up your family. If the email is already set up, tap Sign in instead.
