The Share jar and giving

Part of every payday goes into Share. Your child picks a cause, you pay it, and they see where it went.

For parents · Day to day

Steps

  1. 1

Your child asks to give in their app. It shows on Home under Waiting on you, like Amani wants to give KES 50, from their Share jar.

  2. 2

Tap Yes, give it, then make the payment to the cause yourself.

  3. 3

To record giving without an ask, open their page. When there’s money in Share, you’ll see the Share jar card.

  4. 4

Tap Mark money as given, type the Amount given and Where it went, like a school harambee for the library.

  5. 5

    Tap Mark as given.

Giving takes the money out of their Share jar and earns them 2 Kesho Stars. They see where it went in their app.

Ideas that work for kids

  • A collection at school or church.
  • A harambee for a neighbour or a classmate.
  • Buying something for a children’s home, together.

To give more or less, change the Share part of the split in Allowance.

Questions

Does myKesho send the money to the cause?

No. You pay it, by M‑Pesa or cash, and record it here.

What if I say no?

Tap Not this time. The money stays in Share and your child gets a note to ask you about it.
