Savings goals

Your child picks something to save for and you approve it. You can set a goal for them too.

For parents · Day to day

Steps

  1. 1

When your child starts a goal in their app, it shows on Home under Waiting on you as New goal.

  2. 2

Tap Approve goal, or Talk first if you want to chat about it.

  3. 3

To set one yourself, open their page, go to Goals (or Saving for for a child under 6) and tap Set a goal.

  4. 4

Fill in What it’s for and How much, then tap Set goal.

  5. 5

Watch the ring fill on their page. When it’s full, the goal shows Reached and you get a note.

Your child moves money from Save into a goal in their app. Money in a goal is set aside: they can’t ask for it out of Save while the goal is open. Reaching a goal earns 5 Kesho Stars.

For little ones

For a child under 6, a goal is the big thing you’re saving for, like school fees, a first bike or a laptop. Money you add with Add savings goes straight towards it.

Help it grow

  • Turn on Save bonus in Account → Rules: 1%, 2% or 5% of what’s in Save, added every payday.
  • Share their gift link before a birthday, so family can add.
  • Raise the Save part of the split for a while.
