Record money your child used
Gave them cash or paid for something with their money? Take it out of their Wallet so the record stays right.
Steps
- 1
Open Kids and tap your child’s card.
- 2
Tap Use their money under their total balance.
- 3
Type the Amount, or tap a quick amount. The hint shows how much is in their wallet.
- 4
Fill in What for, like snacks, a school trip or a book.
- 5
Tap the button with the amount, like Take KES 100 out.
Use this when no ask came through the app: you paid the matatu fare from their money, bought a book they chose, or gave them cash on visiting day. Your child gets a note saying the money came out of their wallet and what it was for.
Things to know
- It only takes from the Wallet. Money in Save or Share stays put.
- You can’t take out more than is in their Wallet.
- If your child already asked in their app, answer the ask instead, or you’ll take it out twice.
Record it the same day. It’s easier to remember, and your child sees their wallet go down when the money is spent, which is the whole lesson.
Questions
I took out the wrong amount.
Add the difference back with Add money → From me into their Wallet.
Can I take money out of Save?
Not directly. Your child asks for it from My Save in their app, and you tap Allow it.
Under-6s have no Use their money button.
That’s right. A savings pot only grows. Little ones don’t spend from it in the app.
